Thai Me Up!

Silk Elephant (1712 Murray Avenue, 15217) is one of those tried and true spots in Pittsburgh for a great meal. If you are in the mood for Thai, and you don't mind navigating Forbes and Murray Avenues, then I can think of no reason why Silk Elephant shouldn't be an option.

On my most recent trip, I dined as part of a foursome, which provided a great opportunity to get some additional opinions and to see what others like to order when they dine at Silk Elephant.
Thai Iced Teas
Pear Martinis ($8)
Fresh Rolls ($5.5, fried tofu, carrots, lettuce, mint leaves, basil leaves, rice paper, brown sauce and peanuts) 
Spring Rolls ($3.95, chicken, carrots, cabbage, and sweet & sour sauce)
Top Left: Pad Thai ($11.95, choice of protein with egg, green onions, and peanuts) / Top Right: Curry ($12.95, choice of protein, vegetables, and broth with sticky rice) / Bottom: Grilled Chicken and Papaya Salad ($13.95, marinated grilled chicken, papaya salad, tomatoes, green beans, and sticky rice)
Overall, everything that we ordered was delicious and priced appropriately. I was surprised that the chicken in the Grilled Chicken and Papaya Salad had all of the bones in it, which made it difficult to eat politely; ultimately the taste overcame the nuisance. Silk Elephant's service is quick, efficient, and very friendly; the bar is stocked with an abundance of wine and beer options; and the decor is exactly what one would expect of a modern, yet classic Thai restaurant. I highly recommend giving it a try.
